Description: State of South Carolina is currently seeking to employ WIC Division Director - REPOSTING right now, this position will be placed in South Carolina. Under limited supervision of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Bureau Director, this position will direct and manage the Division of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutritional Services. WIC services are provided in each county of the state. The program serves an average of 130,000 participants per month. This position will directly supervise four (4) program managerial staff. On a statewide basis, assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures of the WIC Program. This position will assure compliance with the WIC State Plan approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for SC. Will be responsible for making recommendations for policy changes to USDA/ Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program. Collaboratively partner with other MCH Divisions to implement the Health Services Operational Plan; with Health Services Operations and the Bureau of Financial Management to assure the management of WIC funds are managed within standards of federal regulations.
Responsible for the completion of Employee Performance and Development Plans in accordance of Agency guidelines and provide feedback to build competencies. Promote implementation of DHEC Strategic Plan and contribute to the development, completion, and monitoring of organizational performance standards. Serves as the State Representative for the WIC Program. Provides information to the MCH Bureau Director, attend Bureau meetings, communicates and coordinates efforts with internal and external partners, and oversees financial planning (monitoring and reporting of budget, expenditures, and contracts). Ensures that site visits are administered and evaluated in compliance of WIC Program guidelines. Oversees regional and contractual operations to ensure compliance with federal and state WIC requirements. Provides oversight of the proposed implementation of the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Initiative, oversight of the Vendor Management Unit, CARES WIC computer module, and participates with the development of the Statewide Breastfeeding Strategic Plan, and development of caseload data reports, data analysis, and WIC participation.
Directs the development and distribution of the annual WIC State Plan. Directs management through team leadership. Serves as the liasion to all Health Services team members and works closely to promote the WIC program. Serves as the WIC Nutrition Contact for the CDC Pediatric Nutrition Surveillance Data System.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A Masters Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Human Nutrition or Foods and Nutrition. Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association and possess a valid license to practice from the SC Panel for Dietetics. OR A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field and six (6) years of WIC programmatic management experience. All candidates must possess four (4) years of professional experience; two (2) of which must be in a supervisory role with programmatic management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess the ability to plan, implement and evaluate nutrition programs; interpret state and federal guidelines and regulations pertaining to the WIC Program. Possess considerable knowledge of public health administration and management principles.
