Provides nutrition care and education to patients.
E
valuates the patient’s nutritional status, develops and implements nutritional care! plans, assesses nutrient requirements, recommends nutrition prescriptions, evaluates patient tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional care, and communicates nutritional data and information to the physicians and other health professionals.

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree from ADA accredited institution with a major in nutrition plus ADA approved internship. Master’s Degree plus ADA approved work experience or internship preferred
Experience:
6 months in related field preferred
Number and Type of Employees Supervised: None
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: ADA registration required. Must maintain 75 hr continuing education every 5 years to maintain RD status.
CDE status preferred but not requir! ed.
South Carolina Dietetic Licensure.
Sp! ecial Training: Requires ability to teach; analytical thinking; ability to provide care to patients of all ages including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients;
and
knowledge of clinical dietetics. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications desired.
Responsibilities
Performs nutritional assessments as required and indicated by ADA and JCAHO standards.
Provides nutrition education to patients/family members as ordered by physician and according to ADA and JCAHO standards.
Provides nutrition education to staff/nutrition interns and community as needed to increase general knowledge of nutrition-related issues.
Works collaboratively with nurse educators and other patient care disciplines in the implementation of patient education.
Performs all assignments, tasks and duties in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety rules of the department.
Perf! orms other duties as assigned as needed for the efficient operation of the department.
