Lighthouse Care Center of Conway, a subsidiary of
Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is located in Conway, South
Carolina., just a few miles north of Myrtle Beach. We provide three
levels of care â€" inpatient acute psychiatric and substance
abuse treatment for adults, adolescent residential programming and
adolescent group home services. Lighthouse is a JCAHO-accredited
Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility.

Job Summary:
Responsible for c! omprehensive assessment of persons
whose lives are disrupt! ed or complicated by mental illness,
behavioral disturbance, substance issues or inability to function or
maintain in the community. Assists law enforcement, family members
and others with the admission process, both voluntary and
involuntary. Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate.
Coordinates discharge planning through the medical staff. The
therapist is expected to function as a member of the
multidisciplinary team and participate in the community relations
program of the organization. Participates in continuous performance
improvement activities. Communicates with outpatient referral
sources, families/guardians, and outpatient aftercare providers.

Completes psychosocial evaluations on assigned
clients in a timely fashion. Displays excellent interviewing,
diagnostic and report writing skills.

Interviews clients, family members and others
to identify the precipitating event and degree of ! disruption that the
person is suffering.

Assesses the impact of psychosocial stressors
in order to minimize the negative, destructive outcome of a crisis
experience.

Provides care appropriate to condition
and age of the client, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and
the general population.

Conducts required therapy sessions with
individuals, families and groups.

Possesses excellent theoretical knowledge of
psychopathology and treatment techniques as it relates to each type
of therapeutic modality.

Writes clinical assessments in prescribed
manner for the medical record.

Summarizes assessments and links clients to
the appropriate discharge level of care.

Participates in treatment planning for each
client, works collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary
treatment team, completes progress notes and discharge plans in a
timely fashion.

En! gages in timely, efficient discharge
planning. Works closely with t! he client, attending physician and
other healthcare workers.

Knowledgeable of facility and community
resources. Collaborates with medical staff and community based
agencies regarding evaluation, recommendation and referral
disposition.

Possesses knowledge of Crisis Prevention
Intervention (CPI) in managing crisis situations with escalated
clients.

Documentation meets current standards and
policies.

Documents all client related interactions.

Completes documentation required for the
medical record and third party payer sources.

Performs all aspects of client care in an
environment that optimizes client safety and reduces the likelihood
of medical/health care errors.

Acts as an advocate for the client in the
community as needed.

Maintains a good working relationship within
the department and with other departments.

Communicates appropriately and clea! rly to the
Program Director, Lead Therapist, co-workers and medical staff.

Provides a safe environment for clients and
staff, including being aware of and documenting unusual incidents.

Treats client and their families with respect
and dignity; provides emotional support.

Is emotionally and mentally stable to
work with the clients; models self-care skills; and assists clients
in meeting their goals.

Concurs with members of the treatment team for
the benefit of the client.

Consults other departments, as appropriate, to
provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the client's needs.

Demonstrates the ability to be flexible,
organized and functions under stressful situations.

Complies with facility policies and procedures
and safety management requirements.

Keeps current with advances in the therapy
field through continuing education, seminars/conferences,
profes! sional organizations, journals, etc.

Completes other duties as! necessary and
assigned by the Program Director and/or Lead Therapist.

Completes performance improvement activities
for the department as assigned.

Requirements

Regulatory

Requirements:
Masters Degree in Social Work.

Eligibility for current state licensure or
currently licensed as a behavioral science professional.

Current CPR, first aid and CPI
certification.

A minimum of two (3) years experience in a
supervised clinical behavioral health care experience preferred

Language Skills:
Ability to communicate in English, both
verbally and in writing.

Must have sufficient language skills and
ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately and
professionally implement and document the services provided to
clients.

Additional languages preferred.

Skills:
Basic computer knowledge.

Strong int! erpersonal skills.

Knowledge of a wide range of psychosocial,
cognitive and /or developmental disorders.

Ability to visually observe client needs.

Possess the ability to work productively and
effectively.

Physical Demands:
Bending, stooping, lifting and pulling
during direct client care necessary as required. May be required to
assume awkward positions during physical management of violent or
emotionally disturbed clients. Ability to safely participate in
and/or supervise physical leisure activities of designated client
population.
