About the Position:
May be required to work occasional holidays, nights, and weekends. This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 96006, 23 October 1996, which requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician & a pertussis vaccination is required. Work is performed in a fully equipped medical office/exam room in a busy clinic environment subject to frequent interruptions where there is exposure to infectious & contagious diseases through contact or needle stick injury. Standard medical precautions are used to counteract this risk. Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) certification for employment in Urgent Care Clinic These positions are inclement weather essential. Must be able to lift in excess of 45 lbs. May be required to wear a uniform. Duty location: You will be working at the Soldier Care center; Troop Medical Clinic at Moncrief Army Community Hospital for Ft. Jackson, SC.

DUTIES:
You will serve in a Military Treatment Facility clinic performing a wide range of primary health care to patients of all ages. You will make independent decisions involving evaluating & treating patients by securing health & medical history, performing physical examinations, recording findings, ordering laboratory tests & x-rays, writing prescriptions, administering injectable medications or IV fluids, applying various splints, educating patients regarding medications and treatment regimens & performing minor surgical procedures. You will make decisions concerning primary care needs of patients with physicians & refer to other clinics or inpatient facilities as required & maintain accurate medical records. You will provide a full range of emergency services or crises interventions in the absence of the physician, including life saving emergency procedures in order to stabilize a patient. The work involves standing & bending in the assessment, examination & treatment of patients.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCPA). Certification: This position requires successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification. Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-11) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume they possess specialized experience which involves performing routine and comprehensive physical examinations of all ages, reviewing medical history, prescribing medications, interpreting radiographs and lab results, and diagnosing medical conditions.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas: Skill in Patient Care Skill in Oral Communication Skill in Written Communication

Personnel security investigation required. A medical examination is required prior to employment. Hepatitis B immunization is required (direct patient contact). This position is covered by the Drug Abuse Testing Program. Applicant drug testing and random drug testing will be required. Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccinations required annually. This position requires a Childcare Background Check (CNACI). Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
